Printed wedding invitation cards create a professional feel to your wedding stationery. They also exude an element of luxury and give your guests the impression that you have made an effort. Printed wedding invitations don't have to be expensive, they can actually be very cost effective when you consider the amount of time and materials it takes to make the invitations yourself.

Printing
Many printing techniques are used and each technique creates a different feel and look to your wedding stationery. Lithography or digital printing is used to create full color invitation cards. This technique is comparatively cheap compared to other techniques such as letterpress. This printing method is great for photo invites or for modern invites that use bold colors and patterns.

Letterpress printing is relative expensive printing method. However, if you truly want luxury wedding stationery then this is the method to go for. Letterpress is more expensive due to the set-up and printing time needed to complete the stationery. If you are wanting a bespoke design then new dies will need to created. Letterpress invites are normally printed on very thick board, around 350gsm upwards.

Foil printing provides an element of luxury to your wedding cards but is more affordable. Foil comes in many colors not just silver and gold. However, these are the colors most commonly used on foil printed wedding invitations.

Wording

An advantage to printed wedding invitations is that if you choose a wording that does not need guest names you can spend a lot less time writing your invitations. With a wording that doesn't use guest names you just need to write the names of the guest/s and their address on the front of the envelope. You time is then freed up to do other things.

Time

Another advantage to printed stationery is time. Most handmade wedding invitations are fairly time-consuming to make, even if you use a wedding stationer to make the cards. Printed cards can take 5 to 15 working days to complete. Handmade cards can be 4 to 8 weeks. Also, if you are in a hurry, most printers provide an express service so you can receive your stationery within a few days.
